I bet you’re wondering if positive thinking really works or if it’s just hype. If I could give you some simple tips to keep you get and stay positive would that help you improve your life? I know, much has been said and written about positive thinking, personal development, thinking your way to success, still you might be wondering, “is it really achievable?” The truth is that the power of our minds to influence our actions cannot be underestimated.

Not everybody believes or accepts the power of positive thinking. But there is undeniable truth that negative thoughts, words and attitudes bring up negative and unhappy moods and actions. Negativity breeds more negativity, a vicious, never-ending cycle that can only lead to failure, frustration and disappointment. Conversely, positive thinking will do the exact opposite; positive thoughts can only beget positive actions, leading to a happier, healthier, and more successful life.

So how do we move beyond positive thinking towards actually positive living?

Make the decision. The first step is always to decide that you can be a more positive person. Many people don’t move beyond this first step, because they come up with all sorts of excuses like, “I’m stuck in a lousy job”, “I’m never going to have a successful long-term relationship”, etc. But, the reality is that no matter what your life is like today choosing to be more positive is entirely up to you!

Keep track of your thoughts.Sometimes we don’t realize just how negative we are. In our daily lives we’re constantly bombarded with negative thoughts and images, so it’s helpful to identify these sources and try to avoid them. Begin by creating a negativity journal. Try it for 7 days, and see how much negativity you come in contact with on a daily basis, and also take stock of your own negative thoughts.

Avoid negative influences. Now, that you’ve been keeping track of those negative influences in your life you’ll need to do something about it. This may mean you need to stop spending time with people who are negative. You simply can't afford to be around negative influences because it will drain your energy, and keep you further away from your goal of living more positively.

Take action! A good idea is to set some personal development goals for yourself. Devise a clear and focused plan, and start working one or two of the most areas right away. You’ll begin to feel more positive as soon as you start making a real effort to improve your life.

Commit 110%. Real change requires your commitment, persistence, and hard work. Now goes deeper than simply choosing to be positive, because it requires you to remain optimistic even when things seem to be going wrong in every possible way. But, the truth is that the most successful people are those who are able to commit and persevere. They ultimately move beyond merely thinking and begin to truly live and feel more positive.

This will take your concerted effort, but the good news it that once you’ve trained your mind to habitually remove all negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones, you’ll find yourself in a better position to achieve the success, happiness and wealth you’ve been striving toward.
